About you
As an experienced Senior HSE Advisor, you will bring some years of demonstrated success in Health, Safety, and Environmental roles, ideally within the construction or infrastructure sectors. You have a deep understanding of WHS legislation, construction safety standards, and risk management frameworks, and you're confident navigating complex site safety requirements across various project stages.
As the Senior Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor your role is ensuring the implementation and maintenance of robust safety protocols and environmental standards at construction sites.
Responsible for monitoring adherence to regulations, conducting risk assessments, and providing guidance to personnel. you play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of our personnel and the sustainability of our projects.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with ensuring that risk management issues are addressed as required and that each project risk register is reviewed monthly (including an evaluation of the effectiveness of controls);
- Assist in maintaining IMS documents including procedures, forms, registers, records etc. to HSE standards and that version control is maintained;
- Assist with establishing and maintaining a leadership role to ensure that there is commitment throughout Company to achieve the IMS policy intent, site specific safety management plan requirements, and worker/subcontractor/supplier involvement;
- Regularly, undertake Site Inspections, Audits and attend tool box talks, site safety walks and consultative committee Meetings (if in place) – assist with ensuring scheduled SSSMP inspections and audits are undertaken prior to various external audits;
- Endeavour to resolve, within a reasonable time frame, any WHS disputes that may arise between workers/site personnel and management by consulting with the project team and workers;
- Coordinate the development of Project Risk Assessments (PRA), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and/or Risk Assessment Worksheets (RAW) for M+J Builders activities as required;
Monitoring and Regulations
- Attend regular industry related events to remain up to date with current systems methodology;
- Assist with internal audits and review of management system implementation and report on compliance.
- Monitor construction activities to minimise environmental impact and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Assist with monitoring, reviewing & reporting on the progression and recommendations of all WHS and Environmental incidents, potential hazards and corrective actions;
- Assist with monitoring performance against the WHS Project Objectives, Targets and Positive Performance indicators and assist Contract Administrators with preparation of statistics reports monthly (if required);
- Monitor, review & report, as required, on risk assessments for specific tasks undertaken in conjunction with the relevant Site Manager;
- Ensure that incidents and/or dangerous occurrences are recorded and investigated in accordance.
- Assist the HSE Manager with the coordination of any statutory notifiable reporting requirements within required time frame;

Educational Requirements and Relevant Experience
- General construction induction training card - White Card
- Drivers license
- Certificate IV in Work, Health & Safety
- Diploma Work, Health & Safety
- 3 years’ experience in a Senior HSE role within the construction industry
- Working at Heights Certificate RIIWHS204E
- First Aid & CPR
- G189 Training
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment is preferred.
